the smothers brothers and simon and garfunkle are def. the best of the past , the brothers for laughs and great songs and s and g for the most moving songs of the times.

Yep, it’s from the final episode of Jack Benny’s regular show. I’ve got it on DVD.

Simple…yet really pretty funny…early 60′s Folk was popular and the Bro’s kinda tweaked it…

I think Tom & Dick might be amused at the idea of being held up as avatars of “safe” comedy. (“Hey, we got away with it! Ha!”)

frankheiss:

but to be honest. when was the last time you have seen this kind of classy humor?

frankheiss:

yeah and Addiddas and Nicke, way to go, way to go

As I pointed out at another post, Mason Williams wrote much of their comedy. But I suspect that they came up with the vicious puma bit all by themselves.
Btw, there ARE pumas in America, Dick!

EmmaBugg007, the time has come for you to choose. Either “It’s never been released on DVD” or “It’s available on DVD” but not both.

It’s never been released on DVD. It’s available on DVD from the official Jack Benny Fan Club.

Was that Smothers Brothers episode ever released commercially on DVD, or did you convert it to DVD from the VHS release?

This is from Jack Benny’s last filmed episode (and the last of his weekly series), originally telecast on April 16, 1965.

I never thought comedy from that era would translate so well to this day and age.
